 | Another Childhood Favorite!!! rating: 5
It was Child's Play 2 that started my love for horror movies. It was on tv when I was about 6 years old, and I loved it! I still love it. It's been two years since Andy Barclay has been rid of Chucky, but the greedy people at Play Pals Toy Company resurrects the original Chucky doll, and brings Chucky back to life. Andy has been placed in the foster care of Phil and Joanne Simpson because his mom has gone crazy. Chucky finds Andy and the nightmare begins again. Andy made friends with the teenage girl that the Simpsons are also looking after. Her name is Kyle, and she is HOT! Soon, Kyle believes Andy about Chucky and she tries to help him. They eventually have an ulimate showdown at the Play Pals Toy Company. If you love horror and Chucky, you'll love CHILD'S PLAY 2!!!

Not as good as the first rating: 2
Child's Play 2 is very different from the first film. It introduces us to comedic Chucky, why is it that every good horror villian has to be a comedian ? The film does have good effects and one-liners though. Check it out if you want a good laugh.

Hows it hangin Phil? ;) Sorry Jack Chucky's Back! rating: 5
Film Name: Child's Play 2
Year Made: 1990
Overview: Young Andy Barclay now lives in a foster home after the horror he experienced from his good guy doll, Chucky. As time has passed, the toy company that once made the good guy doll line is back up and in business. What that also means is Chucky's back and ready to play a new game that he likes to call "hide the soul"
The Package: 3 Stars
The cover is really cool with Chucky, as well as some cool graphics on the disc itself. There is a insert included when you open up the case that includes chapter scene names and a few pictures from the movie. As far as bonus features, the trailer is included along with some bio and production notes but it's pretty basic. This film is in widescreen which is great, but sadly, no closed caption on this one. The disc is held in place very secure and not to hard to pop out, although I found this case a bit harder to pop the disc out compared to the push button kind where you push in the center and the disk pops up, those are the best.
Spook Meter: 3 Stars
Child's Play 2 is not very scary, but it does have some spooky parts here and there. Chucky talks quite a bit throughout this film and has a lot of really funny one line sayings that any fan of the Chuck is going to love. What you get here is some spooky scenes mixed with a lot of funny things that Chucky says that will make you laugh at the same time. The overall result is a smile on your face and a horror film that is not overly intense/scary but is very enjoyable to watch. I must note that normally I don't like to mix much humer with horror films, but in this film as well as the other Child's Play films, it really works well.
Gore/Violence Meter: 3 Stars
Horror fans who love tons of blood will find this to be pretty mild as far as blood level is concerned. I will say there are some really cool death scenes though that left me feeling like Chucky made sure to get some great kills and I walked away at the end feeling happy.
Profanity Meter: 4 Strikes
There is a lot of profanity in this film, be warned.
Sexual Meter: 1 Strikes
There is no nudity, no in bed scenes, no make out scenes, no nothing! Anyone offended by sexual themes, have nothing to worry about while watching this.
Final Thoughts:
Chucky is a lot of fun to watch and so I give this 5 stars overall. His laugh is simply the best and every time he laughs, I find myself laughing right along with him with a huge smile on my face. I'll agree with some reviewers that the Child's Play films get less scary as they progress but they sure are a lot of fun to watch. To me, less scary does not mean a less enjoyable horror film in all cases and this is one of those cases. I really enjoyed this and hope you do too.
Thank you for reading my review!

Oh, In Retrospect, Chucky Makes Me Smile rating: 3
I was introduced to the Child's Play series as a child through the neverending repeats on USA Network, specifically this entry. I remember genuinely being freaked out after the first viewing, then the more it aired, the more I grew accustomed to it. Thus beginning my fan status of the Child's Play series.
It's about thirteen years since those viewings have taken place, and sitting down and watching the film now, it makes me kind of nostalgic. Not the film is any type of gem. It's exactly what it's supposed to be. A sequel to a film about a murdered who possesses a doll in order to escape death who then tries to possess a child's soul so that he can live on. Andy, the kid from the first, was sent to foster care after his mother was sent to a psychiatric ward after the first incident. A family takes Andy in, Chucky is revived, another protagonist in the form of Kyle is introduced, and let the mayhem begin.
Brad Dourif is awesome at voicing Chucky. The one-liners that spewed from the doll could not have sounded any better. It being the sequel, we get more of those. And his yell ... that yell - to me - is like Freddy Krueger's fingers scraping on metal or Michael Myer's breathing. It's Chucky's trademark to me.
Alex Vincent (Andy) has some sort of charm to him. His facial expressions may seem pretty dim at times, but something about his performance makes him likable. The only other likable character in the film is Kyle. Christine Elise took a pretty blah part, and made her bearable. If you rooted for Andy, you rooted for Kyle. And it's always nice to see Beth Grant. She makes a cameo here as Andy's highly strung teacher, and her exuent is pretty memorable.
One more detail that it made it nostalgic was the cheesy score and the deliciously cheesy effects. There wasn't much gore in the film (the gore in this series doesn't start until the next entry), but the animatronics used were good 90's stuff. I miss the animatronics.
As the credits rolled, I was left with a little smile due to the nostalgia I felt. And I will admit, a little creepy feeling because the little doll still creeps out.
