If you love Judy Garland and it has been since you were very young, like I was, since you have seen these shows, this is a must have see. To see such a great talent at her best is a trip back in time, well worth taking again and again.

Awesome! rating: 5
Others here have written beautifully about this treasure, so I'll just add that this is the first DVD that I ever purchased, on the same day that I bought my first DVD player, and that this collection was the only reason I bought a DVD player to begin with. It also was the first time I'd seen Judy Garland's 1963-64 TV series, and the first (of now many times) that I have read and referred to the really excellent and informative paperback book 'Rainbows End' written by Coyne Sanders which comes in this awesome DVD package.
Some 200 DVDs later in my collection, I'm happy that this is the one that got me started with collecting DVDs in the first place. I wish more box sets would include books and supplemental material so richly provided with this box set. It belongs in the home of every fan of Judy Garland and the guest performances are to behold- because of this show, I was introduced to Peggy Lee, Martha Raye, Vic Damone and other excellent musical talents I'd heard of, but basically had never seen perform.
It's a must-have :)

Garland's Greatest Filmed Performance rating: 5
My understanding of this program before I saw it was that it was a "failure," and should be seen only by unlimited Judy Garland fans. But when I finally saw it I saw a side of her I never realized. Here she is not artistically fettered by MGM, and more importantly this show is the main source of Judy's concert style of performance. People whose impression of Judy Garland is drawn from "For Me and My Gal" or "The Harvey Girls" may wonder why by the 1950's she was called Miss Show Business. This show gives us a glimpse.
It is far from perfect. It lacks structure, it meanders in poorly written jokes, and there are technical goofs galore (many which Garland capitalized upon with excellent timing to get a laugh out of the audience - especially involving cue cards). But where else in the world will you see Barbara Streisand, Judy Garland, and Ethel Merman all singing together? It's not just the star power, but the actual performances themselves that will hold your attention and keep you thinking of them long after Jerry Van Dyke's comedy will be forgotten.
Judy had the burden of being a bigger legend than her guests, and dealt with it by being the central performer on the show. She sang, danced, and even did impersonations in a sketch with Jack Carter. I can't possibly tell if the emotions she puts in her songs are real or not, but what counts is that they -seem- real. More than any other performer, she broke hearts when she sang. Perhaps it's because she is seen by viewers who know how much of a tragedy her life was. I don't know. But these performances are greater than anything that will be seen in Judy's movies, even "A Star is Born," which may be the most profuse display of her talents on film. It's not enough to listen to a Judy Garland album -- she must be seen as well to be fully appreciated, and this collection is the best way to do that. She really was the World's Greatest Entertainer.

We have Lift Off rating: 5
Just wait until you see Judy sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic for the first time in the show. Her talent is supernatural. What else can I say. I have so far only bought the first box set and will soon buy the next. I wish that the shows could be packaged in complete running order. I would be prepared to buy the ones that I have already purchased again. Pure Heaven.

The Ultimate Garland Collection! rating: 5
I am awestruck by this incredible collection. I wish more people could see this and know how great a performer Judy was(and still is in my opinion). The sound and visual are unbelievably mesmerizing! I've turned on others to the show who aren't devoted fans, as I am, and they are impressed to no end! If only they could have given the great Garland more seasons! You just love her all over again!
As a small child, I remember watching this show with the entire family. It was great then, but not like this! Incredible!
