Casio PC Unite Watch
Casio's PC UNITE watch does much more than tell the time. It comes with personal information manager functions, including a schedule function (keeps track of appointments and alerts you when they're due), a contact function (stores phone numbers, email addresses, etc.), and a to-do list function. It also has a data synchronization feature that compares the data stored in the watch with the data stored on your computer, then updates both with the newest version. This means you can input data on your computer and download it to the PC UNITE, recall and edit the data on the watch when you're away from your desk, and then update your main records when you get back, all with a few simple button operations. The watch has about 24 KB of memory and can display 16 numbers, letters, or symbols per screen. The EL backlight provides for easy reading of data. The watch measures 50 by 37 by 14 millimeters, is water- resistant under everyday use, and its batteries typically last around 18 months. PC UNITE comes with a built-in infrared port and PC link software (for Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0), and an infrared adapter for your computer. After installing the software on your computer, you can exchange PIM data with a computer or portable data terminal using infrared. You can also exchange data between two PC UNITE watches. PC UNITE is also able to perform data synchronization with Microsoft Outlook, a popular PIM application among business professionals. Installing the link software provides linking with a portable data terminal such as Cassiopeia Palm-Size, 3Com Palm III, Palm IIIx, Palm V, and IBM Work Pad, for easy data exchange. For use with your computer, you'll need an IBM-compatible PC with available port, Windows 95, 98, or NT Workstation 4.0, a color monitor which has at least 640 x 480 dpi resolution, a CD-ROM drive, a keyboard, and a mouse.
