What's a good lifespan on today's electronics.....how about 8+ years!!!
I have used these no less than 1000 hours and they show no sign of dying. Hell, even if they died today I wouldn't care since they have outlasted 2 computer systems and have been with me since the olden days of dial-up and DSL.
I am a self professed audio junkie, and have a great sound system in every major area of my home environment such as my studio/office, living room, and bedroom. Not fogetting my automobile either, I have a great system there also.
The sub produces PLENTY of bass, never had to turn it more than halfway up, and the mids/highs are more than adequate. Obviously, my studio speakers which are worth about 10x more are louder/better, but for the price YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THESE!!!

Bang for the Bucks

I just purchased a set of these off craigslist for $35. If you find a healthy set just buy it. These are 7 speakers all together in an excellent design. Sound really nice.

Rich Sound

There is one word that can describe these speakers- rich.
They employ rich mid range drivers to really fill the room with sound and have perfectly proportioned treble and bass drivers to counter and add to that.
Though they can't get exceedingly loud and can crackle at some volumes, they are overall a great set of speakers that can be used for a PC, iPod or any other music/DVD player.
These speakers trump even the most expensive Altec Speakers, such as the VS4221

The Best I've Had

I wish everyone could own these speakers. They have surprisingly good sound, in both quality and volume, from such a small package. The flat panel output speakers are sleek looking and so small that they're easy to place anywhere on your desk. These speakers make enough sound to *really* be heard! Especially for the price, they can't be beat. I chose these over others that cost more because the sound quality was just that much better. I really don't know how long I've had them because it has been several years now, and they're still going strong.

7-8 years and still thumping!

These speakers... are amazing. I paid $70 for a factory recondtioned set off Ebay seven or eight years ago. My computer is my primary source for music, and aside from the six or seven months I spent out of the country, I've used these guys EVERY SINGLE DAY for at least a couple of hours, LOUDLY, since I bought them, and they still sound great.
Crisp highs, no distortion, great bass. I listen to a lot of electronic music, so bass is really important, and these guys deliver. Over and over again. Save yourself some money and buy an old pair of these off somebody... you'll be glad you did.
