Marty Priola has been one of the chief movers behing the world-class organization, the Cormac McCarthy Society. The webmaster for the group, Priola knows his McCarthy, as this 11-page essay, written for _The Dictionary of Literary Biography_, attests. As Richard Pangburn mentions in his review, this source will be particularly valuable to those early in their explorations of McCarthia. The writing is lucid and accessible for general readers, not specialized to academics, the style comfortable and engaging. Mistakes are very few and insignificant--for instance, Vereen Bell is a man, and McCarthy does not "never" reveal characters' thoughts, but almost never does. One of the main benefits of the piece is that it brings together a good deal of material that for the most part is spread out in writings about McCarthy. Despite the typically long lapse time between final submission and publication, very little is outdated (since the piece was originally written, McCarthy has moved from El Paso).
