This was a discontinued item and I was able to find it at Amazon.com to replace 1 of 5 handsets instead of a new system.

The batteries that came with the phone were dead. I had to purchase new ones. The base (charger) does not work at all. The phone itself is in
working condition. The seller offered to reimburse me for batteries only.
I will keep phone because I do have another charger in my home. But I
am disappointed overall.

This is a much better than average expandable phone set from AT&T. What I liked most is the color directory, selection of ringtones, and overall sound quality. The phone also seemed to have more 'weight' to it than other models I sampled in retail stores. I purchased mine based on other user's recommendations and suggest the same.
