User Reviews
Awesome boombox!
rating: 5

I got this boombox today so I put in Led Zepplin 2 and cranked it up. I am very impressed with this unit. It is stylish and it seems to be of good quality. The bass is good and the clarity is good even at high volume. It is loaded with cool features and the price was very reasonable. I hope it holds up over the years cause I would like to have it around for awhile.

very good for the price
rating: 4

I am pleased with the sound quality of this boombox. The bass is among the best of all comparable boomboxes; the high end is acceptable as well. The surround feature is very nice; on some boomboxes the surround feature seems to detract from the bass; not so with the CSDXD51. I'm no huge fan of boomboxes in general because it's so hard to find one that sounds decent without spending a small fortune, but this one met that criteria almost perfectly. Great addition to my shop!

Excellent Sound, and from default settings

(1)
First, note that the difference between this, the CSDXD51, and the CSDXD55, according to their common User's Manual, is that the latter has a remote control (for which you pay $10 more).

(2)
This is an excellent boombox for those who want simple controls, because it does not have, and I don't miss, the Sound button (Rock/Pop/Jazz/Flat), and it sounds excellent without having to remember to press the Bass Boost button.

(3) Compared to the Sony CFD-G70 and CFD-G500 (which I also own), the D51:
(3.1) Has less deep bass but comparable midrange and possibly even better highs.
(3.2) Weighs significantly less.
(3.3) Has no Sound button (See above).
(3.4) Has no remote.
(3.5) Takes 6 rather than 8 (D cell) batteries.
