I bought this set of DVD's because when the mini series of North and South was out origanally on TV I watched it all the time. Every year it was on. I loved the movie and wanted to be able to watch it when ever I wanted to. It's a great movie and I have watched it I think twice since I have received it.

Fantastic except for book three

Book one and two are fantastic. This series gives you the clearest vision of the reality of the Civil war yet produced. Sadly, book three is an absolute disaster. I can't stress this enough. It is totally unwatchable if you enjoyed books one and two. It's not only bad, but it demeans the first two books by insulting the intelligence of the viewer. It clearly was shot for profit and nothing else. Hats off to Patrick Swayze for opting out. I have given the 3 volume set 5 stars only because of the excellence of books one and two. Buy this set and burn book three. Literally!
