It will outlive you!
rating: 5

I have this 2-1/2 oz model (Zeroll makes 6 serving sizes) and I've been using it for over a decade. It really works well on frozen ice cream, as described. However, after a few years of use, the aluminum alloy tends to lose it shine and acquires scratches, etc. I use an aluminum wheel polish (from any automotive source) to buff it back to near pristine appearance every few years. I just polish the outside and handle; the inside of the scoop is suppose to have a slightly rough "brushed" finish to allow the ice cream to drop out easier. I'm certain this scoop will outlive me. Zeroll also offers an anodized/Teflon finish on all of their scoops, but when they get dinged and scratched, you can't polish those. Also want to add that the size "16" (with green antifreeze plug) produces a perfect dip of ice cream. I'm actually surprised that they make 6 sizes. I'd love to see them make one in copper.

Cuts through ice cream like a hot knife through butter

If you are tired of having to hold a scooper under hot water before you scoop causing the ice cream to melt and become soupy, this is the scoop for you. I was kind of weary about the item after reading cook's review of it, but now i am sold. it works just as good if not better than they say. I have not had to do anything to get the ice cream into the scoop or to come out of the scoop other than hold it over the bowl and let it drop out.

A very good scoop indeed

Easily the best scoop I've used and its ability to roll up hard ice cream is impressive. Scooping soft ice cream is effortless, and scooping hard ice cream can still require some effort. (It works great but it's not "magical".) Due to the way it's designed to work, it does seem to melt the outer layer of the ice cream that's been in contact with the scoop. It's best to not pick up the scoop until you're ready to scoop and then scoop quickly.
