I used this to replace what I believed to be the original ball joints on a 77 Dodge W200 with a Dana 44. It made the job relatively easy. I don't anticipate using this tool very often but I think it would hold up pretty well under regular use. I am not sure what other vehicles can be done with this kit but I think Astro sells adapter kits for other vehicles. If the bulk of your work is ball joints on many different models of cars, perhaps you should consider the $600 Snap-on tool (which appears to be more versatile and durable). But if you do ball joints infrequently, this kit is a good bang for the buck.

Well worth the dough! rating: 5
Used this tool on a very stubborn front axle U-joint. The tool performed very well and made what would have been a very time and labor intensive job into just a mild annoyance. I highly recommend this tool.

The Astro 7865 Ball Joint Press works great. I used it to remove the ball joints in a 32 year-old Jeep axle and it pressed them out perfectly. It made what would have been a difficult job, very easy. Highly recommended.

Better than the rental rating: 5
Before purchasing this item, I assisted my brother-in-law with replacing one of the lower ball joints on his truck. We "rented" a similar tool set from a local auto parts chain that had been misused several times. This made our task even that much more difficult. So when it came time to replace both ball joints on one side of my truck, I made the wise choice of purchasing this item. It held up well to the stress of pressing out the old ball joints and cut down on the install time compared to the previous. A nice addition to my tool arsenal also.
