I never write reviews, and haven't even used this product yet - as I just purchased it... But I felt I had to respond to the reviews I read. You guys are right - this is an ADAPTER, not meant to serve as a cable, thus the length... BUT - what you've wrote is misleading in that you do need a DVI cable - NOT an HDMI cable as the HDMI portion is "male" - one end fits right into your HDMI devise, it's the DVI cable you must have to use this, and that's why I'm buying it... I have a DVI cable and my TV is DVI, but my cable box has HDMI ... It clearly states in the product description:
"Converts DVI from your source to HDMI display Converts HDMI from your source to DVI display Requires existing DVI cable"
So I'm not sure what all the confusion is about...

For everyone complaining about the length of the cable, this is NOT meant to hook up a DVI to an HDMI device or an HDMI device to a DVI device. It is meant to be an adapter for the DVI/HDMI cable you are using on your source/output device, it simply connects the two cables because they have different interfaces. Get this product if that will be your use for it, else ONLY get it if your length of cable will only be like 6". It states adapter in the title, that is what it is, it is just a very nice adapter because it provides you with a few inches of cable as well instead of just in/out connection.

For gawd sakes people this is an adapter for the full HDMI(male) or DVI(male) cables not the actual cable itself! This is for Cathy and Brandeis for their neg remarks.
I didn't purchase this item but just had to add my 2 cents after reading the half-baked reviews. Again, to clarify you buy this adapter if you already have a hdmi cable or dvi cable and your TV is hdmi and your set top box is DVI (or your computer).

Well made but too short, wrong end

The length is only one foot not mentioned in the product discription plus the cable box end is female rather than male and will not plug into your cable box as led to believe. I have to return the item as unuseable.
