Bad software and NO ATI Support!
rating: 2

I upgraded from and All in Wonder 9800 so I could have more memory and dual monitor support. But man what a headache. Out of the box the card feels like a nice heavy piece of hardware. But after installing it I ran in to major software problems. I installed the OEM software that came with the card. No problems. But quality was not that great on the 2nd monitor. So upgraded my Asus MoBo BIOS (AMI) to the newest version with better AGP support. I then updated the ATI drivers. BAM! That knocked out all my ATI multimedia stuff, DVD, TV, capture, etc. I thought maybe I needed to update the Catalyst software as well as the multimedia stuff (DAO, DVD decoder, tv tuner, etc.). That didn't work. So I rolled back the new drivers and reinstalled the OEM stuff. Back to normal. Then I tried updating the drivers again. BAM! Same problem. So I thought the problem was my computer. I needed to install a bigger hard drive anyway so after installing a new hdd, formatting, putting on XP with all updates I tried again. Nope, same problem. I even went in to the ATI archive and downloaded older drivers like the 7.5. No luck.

So, bottom line is the new drivers (from 7.5 on up) will NOT work with the OEM software. The OEM driver is 6.?. I hope it is good enough to run dual monitors, tv tuner, video capture, etc which my 9800 did perfectly, excpet for the dual monitors. I will find out soon when I hook up all my peripherals again.

ATI Support is non existant with this problem or any other after Googling this problem. That is how I ended up here. Thought I would give my input. Buyer beware. Seems like the ATI tech guys dropped the ball big time on this. Very disappointing.

Best bang for the buck
rating: 4

The very best bang for the buck agp card. i looked at getting a stand alone 1950 agp and then getting a pci tv wonder but that would have cost about twice as much. The only thing that stopped me from giving it five stars is the troublesome software. Like others have complained of here ati software seems clunky and counter intuitive. The remote wonder, that came with this card, works ok only after I use task manager to close it then restart it and use the settings to manulay set a radio channel for it. I also seem to have some trouble with the tv program if my pc has come out of hybernation mode and the only way to get it to run then is to reboot. I have not contacted ati or tried very hard to resolve these issues so I can't complain too loudly.

Strong performance for old systems
rating: 4

I got four cards of ATI All-In-Wonder X800 XT, and all of them run great in old AGP computers, but they are getting old in shader model (Pixel Shader 2.0b), radeon x800 series don't support HDR lighting, so when playing Oblivion the HDR option is disable due limitation of shader model 2.0b.
Never mind, the radeon x800xt can do its job in performance quite good.

Bought 3 bad cards (difficult to rate with just a star)
rating: 1

I like ATI All-In-Wonder cards. I ended up buying 3 of these cards because the specs seemed to be exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, game play works for 1-4 months and then the card goes bad and my computer locks up.

After reading the review "Great Performance Card, Bad Drivers & Software, and Bad Heating", I suspect the problem with two of the cards is due to poor cooling (the third had a bad tuner). I have downloaded "ATI Tray Tools". I am going to look into purchasing the "Zalman Vf700Cu VGA cooler". I would really like this card if I could get it to work properly. It is unfortunate that the company produces cards with insufficient cooling. They could do much better.

I installed "ATI Tray Tools" the "Zalman Vf700Cu VGA cooler" on one of my units that froze during games. This fixed the problem. The cooling fails after a short time. On the third card the tuner did not work right out of the box. I sent it back to ATI and they repaired it but on return one of the heat sinks had fallen off a memory chip. I ordered some thermal glue to replace it.

If ATI does not make any more AIW AGP cards then this is top of the line. If you play games at all, I highly recommend the upgrades mentioned above. I hope ATI continues to support AGP with their AIW cards as there are a lot of AGP machines that will be around for awhile.

Awesome Graphic Card

Another hit from ATI! I just played FARCry with this video card and it worth it cost. Just a great choice.
