It's plastic. It's solid. It's MUCH smaller than I expected. It's useless for what I had in mind. It's only about 3 1/2 inches high at the tallest point. I wanted something to organize papers. I guess I should have looked at the measurements before I chose it.

Should have known by the price

I should have known by the price, but I had no idea it was soooo small.The shipping was more than the item. I thought it was much larger, judging by the picture. Otherwise it is good for notes, envelopes,even larger papers. It is fine if you have a small working area.
