Grows with each listen
rating: 5

Whenever I get stressed out as a teacher, I listen to Aselin and I get lost in a better place. The newer "Bigger Than Me" took more time than her first venture to fall in love with But with each listen, it grew more and more endearing. She is amazing singer/songwriter and will lift your spirits no matter where you are ( mine in Long Island NY traffic ) and bring you to a better place. Now my only complaint is when are you going on tour - we need you here in NYC. Fast, no, make that slow...

Excellent
rating: 5

I wish she would have included a few celtic-flavored songs like those on her first CD, but other than that I can't think of anything negative to say. I enjoyed every track on this CD, and that is pretty rare! I recommend this CD without hesitation.

"Bigger than Me" an exceptional album everyone can relate to
rating: 5

Aselin. Not an ordinary name, but very fitting, as Aselin is not an ordinary girl. First, not everyone can sing with the power, grace and beauty Aselin's voice holds. Second, how many 14 year olds have 2 successful cd's, a few hit singles and countless incredible performances under their belts? Her songwriting talent is not ordinary either. It is not very often that you find a young girl sitting down to write folk/pop music with some of the country's greatest writers, nor is it often you realize that these songs are coming straight from the heart. Rather than being packaged into teeny-bopper songs about heartbreak, Aselin writes about what she knows, and thus, her songs are very easy to relate to. The first single, "Life", talks about trying to make it through tough times and do something right - a struggle so many young teens I know are going through right now. Almost everyone who knows someone with divorced parents can relate to "Faze", and anyone who thinks things are happening too quickly in the world understands "Had to Grow Up". People who argue with their friends and then regret it will find comfort in "Stupid Things" and "Thank you (4 Breaking my Heart)" and "The Friend in Me" also describe typical situations for dating teenagers. This kind of truth is not found in the average pop album now, yet another thing which separates Aselin from the rest. And finally, Aselin is not the ordinary pop star. Instead of getting caught up in the glitz and glamour, she is remarkably level-headed, and, as she writes on her website, "at the end of the day, I'm still Azi!"

Hard To Get,But Worth The Wait
rating: 5

It took what seemed like forever to aquire this CD,but it was well worth the wait. Unfortunately, its not available in the U.S. except as an import,so the number of copies available are limited. All I can say is,it was worth the trouble,as this CD is a treasure. "Bigger Than Me" is Aselin's 2nd CD,and it is a marked departure from her first alboum,"Sweet Is The Melody." That CD reflected her Cape Breton roots, and was full of beautiful Celtic songs which have had profound influenece on her life. It also included her first venture into songwriting,as she co-wrote "The Dance You Choose" with her mentor,Bruce Guthro. Aselin's 2nd CD focuses on her own experiences as a teenager, including divorce, friendship, and of course first crushes. Aselin co-wrote all of the songs, and also played guitar. Her voice is wonderful, and should be even better as she grows older. Celtic music influences this CD,but this alboum is about Aselin exploring the issues important to her. Celtic music will always be apart of her life, and a strong influence on her music, but this CD proves that she has wide range. I look forward to seeing her continuing to grow as an artist.

Shocked with my find!

Aselin is an outstanding new singer and I was amazed with her cd when I bought it. Her songs are all very well sung and her lyrics really have meaning, unlike lots of pop/rock these days. Overall I would have to say this cd is totally worth purchasing!
