| User Reviews | | Pretty good little computer rating: 3
I've had my 3200 series for just over 3 years. What I like most about it is the styling. It's small, very light and looks like a normal computer. That's oddly pretty hard to find for under $2K. What I don't like? It runs REALLY HOT. This has been the case since day one. Honestly, I can't keep it on my lap, because it hurts. I also have to put a book or something underneath it when I have it on a table, so that it can cool itself down (noisily). It's so hot, that my serial numbers underneath melted off a few months back. Also, the palm rests wear out after about 6 months. The paint started to fade away. Ditto for the mouse buttons. I give them a year max before a finger mark is worn into them. After two years, I started using an external mouse, because the buttons weren't responding all the time. I'm going to have to get a new computer soon, because after 3 years, my keyboard no longer works, my screen started to get snowy about 6 months ago and the computer itself is cracked in various places. I do take care of this one, too. But, overall, I am satisfied. It runs pretty well and I don't have any problems with memory, speed, etc. that I had with my previous Dell. I'd recommend it for sure, but don't buy one if you plan on keeping it for more than a couple years.

It Was in it for the long haul, but has major issues rating: 2
First off, I got this laptop, in the 3200 series. Anyway I recieved it as a gift for christmas 2004. I was so happy when I opened it. I was excited.
It was just slow but efficient. It also got very Hot, that I could barely touch it.
Then March 2005 rolled around. between March and May, I had 4 dead pixels located throughout my screen.
Then in late May, lines came across my screen, and it looked so colorful, but I knew something was very wrong. I called up customer service, and the guy made me feel like I did something wrong. He accused me of dropping my laptop, which I know I didn't. So 2 days later I called them back and got an Rma number to mail it to their headquarters in California. I live in NYC.
Anyway, I went to the post office to mail it off. Guess how much it cost me to send it? It was about $35 to send it off.
So a week later I get an email from the company showing me what I sent.
Then they said my screen was not covered under the warrenty. So I would have to come up with about $400, that I did not have. I was a student, so I didn't have it. I called them with the number they gave me, and I got the run around.
So now I was out a laptop. But I was not too worried because I had my Desktop to work with.
Then a week later, a person from the company called me, and we discussed my issues, and he said he would take a look at my item and see what he could do.
June came and I went to Florida for 3 months. It was not until I came back home in September, that I found that they fixed my computer free of charge. I guess they realized that they was wrong.
But I was excited that I got my laptop back. It still sucks, but it does the job. I had no other issues with it other that what I mentioned above.
Recently I noticed that the battery only lasts about half an hour. but I mainly keep it plugged in
Also the parts in the corner near the screen has broke on both sides, that I had to use take to keep it together.
The sound is so terrible, I can barely hear anything.
I want to warn people. Stay away from Averatec. Just because something is cheap does not mean it is good.
*****UPDATE******
This laptop is no more. It just so happened that almost 2 weeks before christmas 07, my laptop just suddenly shut off on me. it would not start up. and when it did start, it would get to the desktop then shut off again.
So i had no choice but to purchase a new laptop the day after christmas. I went with an Hp.
I have to say, that I have not regreted buying this new laptop.

Sturdy little machine that does what it should rating: 4
I bought this computer 2 years ago and I keep waiting for it to break or slow down like my other old notebooks, (Compaq and Dell). I gotta say this computer may not be the fastest or have the longest battery life but it does what it should. It's never broken down. The bottom of the computer does get sorta hot but it's not bad on cold days. I use it every day to check emails, write reports and download and edit pictures. For the price (I paid $900), it's a great little computer. I recommend it for people getting their first notebook who don't have a large budget. Thanks.

Cheap price, cheap hardware rating: 1
My first Averatec had a defect in the power system, such that the battery could not charge. I spent $20 shipping it back for a replacement, and a month later got a replacement.
The replacement has a dead pixel, the case smudges easily, the card reader is defective and after 1 year of use, the casing around the screen is cracked, the sound does not work at less than half volume, and the hard drive is dead. Note that the hard drive died just after the warranty expired, as is typical with companies using very cheap hardware.
The laptop also runs very hot, the fans are loud, battery life is about 1.5 hours, and the wireless is sketchy. My next laptop will not be an Averatec.
If you do buy an Averatec, expect to use it for about a year, with hardware problems now and then. After your warranty expires, the laptop will fall apart.

my Averate 2370 lemon rating: 1
I just want to express my thorough dissatisfaction with my 3270 laptop. It has proved to be a true lemon from day one since I purchased it about a year and a half ago. As soon as i started using it , the problems started. After downloading 300 plus 6 meg pictures things started slowing down. I returned it to the store to add more memory. Things improved for a while. But it just didn't seem fast as it should have been for a "new" computer .So i tried removing unused programs from the desktop as well as what my computer identified as unused files. That when thing really went airy. So again i took it to the Circuit city were i bought it. they tried unsuccessfully to restore it, but couldn't find the restore file! so within the 1st six mouths i had returned to the store twice for service and now they say i had to send it to you to have the files restored.
After your repair. a few mouths later the DVD drive failed. that necessitated another "repair". after that i lost all excitement about haven a new laptop. So i now used it only occasionally. now after a year i decided to try to get my money out of this it. I started updating programs virus protection and the like. again things started slowing down and the DVD drive wouldn't open. I called Circuit City extended warranty. I sent it all the way from California to have the DVD drive replaced again. Just last week I got it back. finally i thought ' this thing will straighten up and fly right'. Wrong...after i started using it I got a black screen: " Pri Master Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T Status Bad". So tonight I called the warranty company gain. They said the hard disk was going bad. Well how bad the i hate this computer ... let me count the ways: 1) slow performance, 2) missing recovery files, 3) bad DVD drive, 4) bad DVD drive that's twice, and now bad Hard drive. as far as i can see this computer was bad from the start. I have never been as thoroughly dissatisfied with a laptop as with your product!
