User Reviews
dry version of Seawalker
rating: 5

I am still in love with the ECCO Seawalker, but I don't live near the ocean. The Seawalker has a thin layer of really good traction and somewhat thin sleek leather. This ECCO Cross shoe has thicker oiled Nubuck leather that won't get scuffed as easily as the Seawalker material. The out-sole is not as stiff as the Seawalker. Both make me wonder why I was not born with them on my feet!

Comfortable, but not very durable
rating: 4

These shoes are very comfortable, but I'm only rating them with four stars. The soles just wear out too fast to deserve five. These are relatively expensive shoes with molded soles. That means that when they're worn through, the shoe is toast. It's an trade-off between the softness and cushioning of the sole and how long they last, but, at $160+ a crack, I'd like them to last longer than a year and a half...another 1/8" in thickness would probably double their life.

All that being said, I've gone through three pair of these shoes and am about to purchase my fourth. I obviously like them enough to overlook their all-too-short life.

The only shoes I wear
rating: 5

I have two pairs of these shoes (brown & black). I wear them every day and get about 2.5 to 3 years of use before they start looking worn and must be replaced. They look nice enough to be considered "business attire" and be worn with shirt & tie, but they are as comfortable sneakers.

I have had plantar fascitis in the past and must use custom inserts. The inserts in these shoes are removeable and can be replaced with orthotics or other inserts that match your foot. That combination, along with the breathability and the excellent quality make this the perfect shoe for the office.

One other point... Ecco makes a version of this shoe that is the Cross II. This shoe has a sole that wraps up onto the toe. Its not as cosmetically pleasing and makes the shoe look like its not suitable for work (in my opinion).

ECCO Cross Men's Shoes
rating: 5

I bought my first pair of Ecco shoes about three to four years ago at a Nordstrom some distance away from where I live. They are the best pair of shoes I've ever owned and they provide perfect support. I can't recommend these shoes highly enough.
