From the supplier: Jean-Marie G. Le Clezio's novel 'Desert,' focuses on the myth of Transparency. It offers brief images of visions of characters which appear to spring out from the desert. The first two sections occur in Morocco's Sahara Desert and tell about the myth of the Berbers, a group of people who lived in North Africa in 3,000 B.C.E. Le Clezio points out that in spite of the difficulties which the Berbers encounter, they are better off than city people who have been alienated from nature.
