| User Reviews | | My first laptop rating: 5
I didn't realize how nice it is to take a little computer like this to the waiting rooms at Drs & auto service. I purchased some head phones with a little microphone for $20 and play movies or a "learn spanish" program I have. It finds the internet where ever I go but I don't use it for internet. It is a low end laptop which means the graphics card won't run the Battlefield series of games and may not run some of the other I don't know because I don't those type of games on it. IT has done everything I want it to do.

Acceptable, not really portable rating: 3
I am a Mac bigot, but needed a cheap notebook for my real estate business. This product fits the bill, but the battery power is useless: for a test I just left it unplugged doing nothing, and the battery died after about 90 minutes. However the screen is good, the speed is acceptable and the WiFi works flawlessly. Buy this if you need to get a cheap notebook - avoid it if you actually need to work away from a power outlet.

Cost-effective desktop replacement rating: 3
Yes, it's inexpensive. Yes, the battery only lasts about an hour before recharging. Yes, the touchpad gets very warm. Yes, it has what you need for internet access, word processing, general photo editing, and other business or school work. In early June, 2005 I bought my Acer Aspire 3002LCi because it has 3 USB 2.0 ports, 802.11 b/g internal wireless, DVD player, CD-RW, and reasonable processor speed. I paid $699 and recieved $200 back in rebates (total of $499). I added an extra 512 MB of RAM for about $100. I've been very happy with the performance. The wireless internet works wonderfully at home, at the airport, in hotels, and in a variety of coffeshops all over the country. The DVD player works great (with additional external speakers or headphones). I use a 100 GB external hard drive to keep my data mobile, and I'm pleased with the USB data transfer rate. I regularly edit 3 to 6 megapixel photos with no trouble; the images are usually JPEGs between 0.4 and 1.5 MB, but I have a few 10 to 12 MB TIFFs that can be edited with bearable processing delays. I run Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint mostly). A couple months ago I put together 6 hours of Powerpoint lectures that went off without a hitch. Projection worked fine via the video port once I remembered to set it up with Acer's presentation software (included). Bottom line: if you have limited funds, don't run high-end processor-heavy applications, and don't mind keeping the power plugged-in, then this computer is exactly what you're looking for. I am satisfied with minor compromises in performance for the price.
