My friend lent me this DVD a few months ago and it's the reason why I am now a huge Rufus fan, have bought all his CDs, DVDs and have seen him live twice. The All I Want DVD gives you a great overview of Rufus' music, his live shows, background and charming personality.

Rufus Wainwright dvd rating: 5
What an amazing night with Rufus Wainwright in my own living room. The 3hr long dvd represents a great selection of Rufus songs with bonus commentaries from Rufus and his producers, some live recordings, some music videos and a documentary "all i want" of his music career so far, including lots of funny footage of Rufus as a child and teenager, as well as insight to some of the more challenging times that this music genious has had. A wonderful experience - definately to be recommended!

"All I Want" -- Insights to a very creative soul rating: 5
Rufus Wainwright is by nature and nurture an extremely talented singer-songwriter. "All I Want" lets the rest of us in on how this wonder came to be, with numerous samples of his "swing-pop-rock." His gayness is simply part of his being... oh for that day when it's that way for all gays... but it doesn't hurt that he's a babe! Some of his songs are "Gay," but whether a song is or isn't, the message and appeal is universal.

"All I Want" wasn't all I wanted, once I'd watched it. rating: 5
I'd have loved to hear Wainwright talk more about more of his songs and seen more performances. It's a lovely introduction to an infectious, engaging, very talented--nay, brilliant--songwriter/poet/musician/performer. The DVD covers a nice range of performance types -- concert settings with full band, intimate acoustic numbers (on a private stage or in studio), typical music video. The interviews with Wainwright, friends, family, fellow artists & producers are interesting, leave you wanting to hear more. Mostly I wanted to rush out and experience one of his concerts for myself.
