Best value for my money
rating: 5

I have been shoping around for the perfect notebook to replace my old-and-bulky Dell Inspiron in the recent months, and found this Akoya LS the one fits my needs exactly:

1. Thin and small, without squeezing the keybord size.

2. Around 4 lbs, so I don't feel the weight while carrying it. My Inspiron is about 9 lbs. These 5 lbs makes a tremendous difference on my shoulder when I travel.

3. High resolution for a 12.1" screen (1280x800), and it is amazingly sharp.

4. Enough speed and memory for my every day use as a Professor of Mathematics with a specialty in computing. Only in rare cases do I really need my desktop workstation for manipulating 10000x10000 matrices.

5. Best of all, I bought it for under $1000 after rebate. My second choice would cost at least $500 more.

Overall, this is the notebook I like the best. I got a lot more than my money's worth. In a perfect world, however, I do wish Medion to improve a few things:

a) The battery life is about 3.5 hours. Although that's not bad, it would be great if I could swap the CD/DVD drive for a 2nd battery. Medion would make a little extra money for selling it as option too.

b) Have a built-in wireless mouse receiver. There seem to be no company doing this, and I wonder why. The touch screen is no match for a mouse. I would spend a few more bucks to buy the mouse as well.

c) While the keyboard is a little dull, the touch screen is too sensitive. It may catches my thump movement when I type.

d) Medion could easily make it with a 13.3" screen without increase the size by shrinking the edges. I would be willing to spend $300 more for that.

Great tiny notebook for the price
rating: 5

I got my medion akoya notebook last June as a gift from my husband and I absolutely love it. We got it for less than $1,000 including tax at bestbuy. I love the white color and I like the fact that it is SO thin and light. It only weighs about 5 lbs with the battery. The only downside was it took us some time to figure out how to connect to the internet because it has an internal cable. You have to push a certain button on the top to connect every time you start the computer. Other than that, it is really convenient and easy to use. It is small, light, has all the features you need in a desktop and the price really, is cheaper than most.

just a start

Its thin, light, and perfect size for a college student. I love it in white and I just got it and so far it runs great...but i still have to get to use it a bit more. Just to let everyone that mihe be interested know that Medion is a leading tech. producer in Germany. (It is a German company)...this is a big plus since Germany has very good stands on technology. Hope this helped a bit.(If the laptop is unavailable on amazon, try best buy!)
