The guage has a cheap look and feel without the cover, I agree it should come with the gauge, but since it does not the best thing to do it purchase it. Each time you grab the gauge you will appreciate the cover and it does help protect it as well.

Protect your gauge and look professional

This gauge cover should come on every Moroso pressure gauge. Yeah, $5 is a little steep for a piece of rubber, but it will make your gauge last longer and keep it looking nice. Oh...and you don't need to disassemble the gauge to put the cover on as the instructions say. The hole in the gauge cover will stretch and go over the air chuck and bleeder valve no problem. No silicone lube is needed either. It took about 30 seconds to put this on the gauge.

Do you need some extra protection on your awesome new gauge? Yes you do; but do you need to pay so much for a chunk of rubber? No. All I can say is; duct tape and inner tube. Be a man...
