User Reviews
Excellent sound but some construction problems
rating: 4

Shortly after receiving my Shure E2c-n headphones I used them with my I-pod Nano for about an hour and was quite pleased with their performance. Later, however, when removing the earpieces from my ears I realized that 1/2 of the left earpiece casing was still stuck in my ear. Though it came out quite easily I could not get the earphone casing to go back together. I had thought about trying to glue it myself but decided just to return the earphones to the Shure Repair Department in Niles, IL for repair or replacement. I am assuming that this will be accomplished with no further problems.

Awesome headphones
rating: 5

This is my first pair of ear canal headphones. I was skeptical that there could be SOOO much difference between regular earbuds/headphones and a pair of these. I knew Shure had a great reputation, but had no idea they were this good.

Part of the improved listening experience comes from the design. Since these fit into the ear canal instead of over the ear or in the ear cavity, they bock out most of the sound from outside. This makes the sound from the earphones much clearer and allow you to get incredible sound quality at lower volumes.

The other thing that makes these earphones better is the design and quality. They have gold-plated connectors and awesome sounding drivers. You get 9 sleeves to choose from, so fit is perfect. In fact, if you see a review that says they don't sound/fit right, that person is undeniably using the wrong ear pieces. They even have stick on wax shields to screen the electronics from ear wax.

The first time I watched a movie, I couldn't believe these sit in your ear canal, but allow you to hear in surround sound! Another note, I had to adjust the eq on my mp3 player, because these are so awesome. You will be amazed at how much range they have on every band of the eq.

At first it took me a day or two to get used to how you put them in. The cord goes over the ear from the back and the driver housing fits perfectly in your ear cavity. The sleeve (ear piece) fits just inside the ear canal. The first couple of times you have to adjust them to get the right seal. If they aren't in all the way, the sound will be "tinny" like there isn't enough bass. You'll see reviews that say they don't have enough bass - this is why I tell you that person isn't wearing them correctly, because when you get the tip sealed right the bass BOOMS. It takes a little practice. After putting them in and taking them out a few times, I can get them in and sealed almost as easy as putting in those crappy earbuds I used to use.

Don't sweat the price, you will be happy. I am a notoriously cheap and these cost a lot to me. My only regret is that I didn't buy them years ago. I can only imagine how good the earphones are that cost twice or 3X as much.

Nice
rating: 4

These headphones are "nice." Their sounds is somewhat lacking, but it feels good in my ears and are WAY better than the stock phones you get with the iphone.

Quit Working after about 6 months
rating: 1

Again, (this is the second pair in a year) the sounds quality was awesome until the left one quit working. Sound comes in and out if I move even the slightest bit. If I hold the part where the one wire splits into two - it quits going in and out - but you shouldn't have to do that. I agree with the other reviewers that say the reason for all the positive responses are people write these when they first get them. There are plenty of other decent earphones that wont break so early.

Excellent for the business traveller
rating: 5

I've owned these headphones for about a year now, and purchased them when they were at the $99 price point. I use them mainly for business trips, and have been very pleased. The sound quality is excellent, they block most but not all of the airplane noise even though they are not necessarily active noise canceling headphones. I have used them with the iPod, iPhone, and PSP with no crackling or other issues. They are the first headphones I have used that allowed me to hear the PSP on a plane, which is quite an accomplishment. They are very durable, the case is great, and the assortment of tips for a personalized fit is great. My only negative impression is that the replacement tips can be hard to find, and are ridiculously expensive.
