User Reviews
I had a problem probably unrelated to the product
rating: 4

When I installed the hub, and moved some USB plugs around, my computer would not boot up. On a previous occasion with a similar problem I had called a tech, and learned how to deal with this: remove every USB plug-in and put them in one by one, booting up each time. So I only removed the ones that I thought were causing the problem. It worked...but it had been my hope to reduce the number of wires behind my computer. The hub works, but I can only use it for new or a few things like my camera and my turntable. I think my problem was unrelated to the hub.

no regrets

Bought this and installed it just over a month ago. No more messing with cables behind the computer. Just in time as one of the front usb ports was beginning to lose connection sporadically. Plugged in and it worked. Will probably add a second one sometime soon. No issues with it yet and I use my computer daily.

I'm satified

This USB port is working fine for me and I am satisfied with it. I would tell anyone that it is good. One thing I like is its configuration - flat, inconspicuous and out of the way.

Quirky Compared To 4-Port Hub
rating: 2

This Belkin 7-Port Hub is quirky --- sometines failing to recognize and/or handle certain devices. Since these same devices work fine with the Belkin 4-Port Hub, I'm rather disappointed.

Powered ports aplenty.

When you rewire your house, you are sure you have fitted enough electrical outlets - but you'll one day wish you had more. And when you buy a PC you're confident it has all the USB ports you'll need - and soon find it hasn't. There are many USB hubs on the market that solve this problem. I did a lot of research before settling on the F5U307. The reviews were generally favorable, the price was competitive and Belkin was a brand I was comfortable with, so I went for this one, and first impressions are that I made a good choice.

If you are going to get a hub, you may as well go for 7 ports rather than less - as I say, you'll eventually need them. Also, you are better with a powered unit, like this one. Some hubs are not self-powered, which will cause you problems when you connect peripherals that draw their power from the computer.

Connecting it to my Dell Inspiron Vista machine was simple. A couple of seconds after I plugged it in, a message informed me that the driver was installed and the hub was ready for use.

If I encounter any problems with it in the future, I'll update this review, but for the moment it's working fine.
