rating: 5

I bought this notebook almost 1 year ago. I have had NO problems what so ever. I highly recommend it. If you are looking for a nice notebook w/o spending a lot then this notebook is for you!!!!!

Bargain basement parts installed by uneducated slave laborers create a high priced piece of garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rating: 1

I own this piece of garbage but I have no one to blame but myself! For I previously owned another piece of Gateway trash! Fool me twice: shame on me!

Gateway laptops will have the biggest hard-drives, the fastest processors, and and the greatest memory with huge, wide-screen, crystal clear monitors to boot! All this for a fraction of a high-end brand. Don't be roped in. As the title states: they can afford this by using the most useless Chinese manufactured, barely working equipment they can find, installed by communist worker ants in China!!!!

I have owned this laptop for under a year and it's already beginning to fall apart. The DVD/CD burner/player no longer burns DVDs, that lasted for about a week. And the player itself plays whatever it feels like playing on any given day.

The buttons on the mouse are beginning to stick, and since this is a laptop I can't fix this simple problem myself, I'd have to take it to a bunch of geeks to tinker at it, all the while enjoying the stacks of p0rn I've downloaded.

The Big Beautiful screen already has some Big Black dead pixels, which not only is annoying but will most-likely begin to spread like the plague.

The battery no longer holds a charge and the power cord gives out without resisting. These two ailments team up to create quite an annoying pair as the computer will shut off without power!

All this in UNDER A YEAR! Yes, it's still under warranty. Who cares! I'd have to send it through the mail and wait a month for them to fix it. I know from experience!! Trust me. I can't afford to be without my computer for that long. Could you?

Ok, I'm not lying here: My left mouse button no longer sticks...it now no longer works at all!!!!!!!!!! I know you think I'm lying, but I've been sitting here clicking it like a madman and it does nothing. Now I have to pop in a portable USB mouse!

As I said, this is my second Gateway laptop. The first had some very similar problems, but took a little longer than this to start occurring. At least after the first year mark!!! I claimed I would never buy another piece of Gateway offal but when I desperately needed a new computer I went to my local computer store, name withdrawn to protect Amazon, and priced them. A Toshiba with worse stats would have cost a few hundred more than this one. Being short on money and needing a good computer I made a huge mistake and bought this, the best laptop with the best stats in the store. This was almost a year ago mind you.

About 6 months ago the DVD player stopped burning DVDs and began to be very particular about which DVDs it played. After that it's been one thing after another.

If you're in the market for a laptop be prepared to shell out some serious cash as these are a luxury item. Company's like Gateway will be able to sell them at an affordable price, but only because they will use whatever means necessary to cut their costs. Unlike desktops which are relatively easy to fix if you have some knowledge of how they work, laptops are almost impossible to tinker with without breaking them! Furthermore, laptops are usually not upgradeable, at least not without spending some big coin to do so. Once they are obsolete they stay obsolete.

If you are ready for one of these super-convenient machines, make sure you save up for a high-end brand and never, under any circumstances be wooed by Gateway's alluring prices and stats!
