This is all as advertised and more. KOCH is undoubtedly a genius, but his music is not for the faint hearted. In this lineup he shares the load with equaly as telented side man and the results are by far the most accessible KOCH yet. His playing is as astonishing as ever, but the music is the reason for this virtuosity. At times he can sound a little self indulgend and some of his music seems to be written for other musos. This is simply one of my favourite cd's and the voice of MILLIGAN is tailor made for some of KOCH's guitar eccentricities. Not one dud track and any number of stand outs. STORMY MONDAY would be my favourite, if pressed. If there is a better version, I've not heard it.
If you are looking for a BLUES GUITAR BENCHMARK cd, this could well be the one.

Great Music

Greg Koch normally stands for guitar pyrotechnics.... that's fine, because he's really a monster guitarist. But this album is all about Music: it's a monster blues rock album. The music stands for it's self. And Greg has a great group assembled. Singer Malford Milligan was a relevation for me. A great soulful voice, which deserves more attention. But also studio aces drummer Tom Brechtllein and bassist Roscoe Beck and of course Greg's great playing contribute to a great album, which is made up of congenial renditions of blues and rock classics: Jimi Hendrix Manic Depression, Stormy Monday, a blistering The Stumble for example. Great!

Wow-This is all the blues you need my friend!

Malford Milligan, the greatest blues vocalist alive today and Gred Koch, one of the greatest guitarists alive today come together for some loaded gut-bucket blues! If you ever get a chance to see them live DO IT! In the mean time, this will do!
