User Reviews
Fast hardware for photo enthusiast
rating: 4

I bought this at Fry's for $900, while all other sellers asked for $960.
Photo editing is the main reason I bought this PC. I need a computer that can drive a 30" LCD monitor (2560 x 1600) with dual-link DVI. The Nvidia 8500GT that came with this PC is the cheapest card that supports it. Some reviews complain that the 8500 is too slow for 3D games.
In the 3 weeks since I bought it, there has been no problem. Stay tune.
Pro:
Fast quad core CPU. Adobe LightRoom 1.3 can take advantage of all four cores.
Single large hard disk. Unlike HP, which puts in 2 smaller SATA drives in Raid0 configuration, the GT5628 leaves an empty space for additional drive. By the time I fill up 500G with photos, I can install a much larger (and cheaper) drive.
Built-in card readers. The transfer speed of the CF card reader is approaching the speed of the USB 2.0 bus.
Con:
Two words, Windows Vista. Unlike built-to-order PCs, XP is not an available option. But no other store-bought PC has XP.

A great PC for the price
rating: 4

This pc has a very powerful processor that has 4 cores that each run at 2.4Ghz.It also comes with 3GB of Ram and has a 500GB hard drive with Vista Home Premium already installed. This thing also comes with a rather weak Graphics card thats 256mb and cant run the newest pc games at full graphic detail without a lot of Slowdown.Even though this pc is great overall i did have a major issue when i first got it.The screen would freeze, the pc would restart over and over again about every 10-20 minutes and then beeping sounds would come from the motherboard.I opened up the side of the pc to find what was going wrong then i found that one of the ram sticks was cracked!I had to take out the Ram and replace it with my own 2-2GB ram sticks and then everything was ok,no more problems. The ram that comes with this pc is very brittle and has no protective metal covering so it's no wonder that one of the sticks was busted.Even though this might be an isolated case of a cracked ram stick i just want people to know whats going on if their pc starts acting up right out of the box. This pc is great all around and one big plus if your a gamer like me is that there is enough room in the case for a heavy duty graphics card such as a 8800gtx 768mb card. You might not think a card as long as the 768mb gtx could fit in this pc by just looking at it's exterior but i got it in there without even taking out the hard drive cage.:)Watching Dvd movies, burning Dvd's/Cd's,playing games at medium graphics detail, transferring data to and from an SD card, this pc can do a lot right out of the box and has plenty of room for upgrading.Great PC.
