The Western frontier in the Nineteenth Century helped forge a new breed of man-tough, driven, and often over-confident. Many a gunfight came as the result of a man's assumption that he, and he alone, could tackle any obstacle, face any and all comers, and come out the winner. But when fate places a seemingly insurmountable obstacle in the path of one of these brave men, placing a strong element of doubt as to his future, help in the form of a faithful friend may be the only answer. | User Reviews | | a western with a view to the future rating: 5
This short story is well crafted with believable characters with whom the reader immediately connects. The introduction of the optical factor lends a verisimilitude that makes all of the readers empathize with the hero. Outrageoussally

Dunlap rides again rating: 4
A new character and a new setting but the same attention to the details of Western life we've come to expect from Phil Dunlap. His descriptive dialogue and salty language made the characters come alive. I'm looking forward to Dunlap's new book in his Piedmont Kelly series coming out this Februrary. Good work, Pardner - Keep 'em coming!!
