2008 debut album from Noah and The Whale, who are adept at making earnest, poetic music. Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down is a collection of songs that muse on the connections between love, death and time. Though '5 Years Time' is the perfect invitation into their world, it is merely a piece of their puzzle. The songs move effortlessly from the epic grandeur of Arcade Fire to the intimate melancholy of Bonnie 'Prince' Billy but all with a very clear sense of Englishness. Manufacturer: CherryTree Records

Great debut with what accidentally appears to be a nice British take on Jonathan Richman. The slightly off-kilter vocals only add to the charm and wit of the songs, which ring honest with heart and freshness.
So, yes, I dig.

Really solid debut... rating: 4
This is a really solid debut album that shows a wide range of diversity. While the two "singles", Shape of My Heart and 5 Years Time are both really great, they aren't the only two songs on the album. I can listen over and over, not skip a song and seemingly never get bored. Definitely worth a listen and obviously a buy.

Fantastic rating: 5
I got sucked in when I heard 5 Years Time on KEXP. The whole CD is just excellent and the songs are not all alike. I've been listening to this album over and over in the last few days with a dash of KaiserCartel thrown in here and there.
